If you’ve been utilizing the Internet for any length of time it’s likely you have been bombarded with junk mail claiming you can make money “while you sleep.” Most sensible people are bound to ignore such claims of easy money. But is it true? Can you really make money while you sleep?

The answer is an absolute YES! However, don’t assume my answer in any way implies that it is a get rich quick while you sleep proposition.

I know it is possible to make money via the Internet while one sleeps as I have been doing it for a little over a month. Actually, I have been utilizing the Internet to market my business and events for several years with a great deal of success, but it is only in the last month that I began aggressively selling products via my website.

Over the last few weeks, between e-products and my latest book, 101 Ways to Get Your Foot in the Door, I have sold a substantial amount of product. Within an hour of launching my products I was making money. From day one, each morning when I turn on my computer I am greeted with sales.

What I most like about doing this is the profit margin. With my e-products the profit is close to 100%. With my books there are shipping and handling costs and yet, the profit is still very nice.

To the casual observer this may seem fantastic. Truth be told, it is. And yet, I didn’t simply put products on my website and the sales miraculously happened.

As is true for anyone who successfully sells on the Internet, I have worked on the backend of launching my products for quite some time. Before I made my products available for sale from my website I had to make sure my systems were in place.

The process began with a great deal of research into how to successfully launch products on the web. I read virtually everything I could get my hands on by folks who are making money on the web. I listened in on teleconferences, went to seminars, bought other people’s products, and spent countless hours becoming very familiar with how the process works.

It is important to state I didn’t necessarily believe claims from someone just because they said they were making money. Plenty of people are claiming to make massive amounts of money on the Internet when in fact, they aren’t. However, there are others who are making incredible revenues from web-based product sales.

Before I would accept what someone was saying, I checked them out. I talked to other people either through email or via the phone to find out what they knew about some of the more “well known” experts. I had the opportunity to talk real-time to some of the experts as a result of taking the initiative to contact them with valid inquiries about their products and businesses.

With each conversation, book, seminar, e-book and teleconference I added to my own arsenal of information. Over a period of about a year and a half, I had acquired quite a storehouse of knowledge.

Knowledge alone wouldn’t lend itself to being successful in

this new branch of my business. As with other products and services I have made available at various times to my market, I had to make sure that the products I would be introducing would sell. It’s all very nice to have something you think is great, but will there be people who will actually pay for what you are selling?

I also had to make sure most of the kinks would be worked out prior to launching the products. This took a considerable amount of time meeting with my webmaster. Together we worked on the vision and how everything would link together.

Many people are very skeptical about informational products being sold on the Internet.

They have every right to be as there is a lot of garbage out there. There are people claiming to be experts when in fact, they aren’t.

I also know we live in a “try before you buy” world. People have to feel comfortable with the purchases they make. Communication is key. Before, during and after.

Offering something at no cost prior to asking for a sale is an incredible way to build trust. It is also important to offer multiple choices in products and prices. Some people are more comfortable making a smaller purchase before they make a larger purchase.

For this reason, I have multiple free information products as well as a very cost effective e-book for only $8.95. As you will see when you visit my site and products page, I have several choices I offer.

As with a brick and mortar business, it is easier to sell to existing customers rather than selling to a stranger. This definitely proved to be true with the products I introduced. I have thousands of people in my database. I treat my database like gold because it is. I keep in touch with people in my database.

This is an area that I often see people lose substantial amounts of revenue. They fail to constantly mine their database or keep their name fresh in people’s minds. As a result they are not able to fully realize the profits that come with a well groomed database and name recognition.

As with any type of business, my continued success with this stream of revenues will be determined by whether or not I keep in touch with people, how I market my products and how valuable my information is.

Yes, you can make money “while you sleep.” And yes, it can be very profitable. However, your level of success will be directly proportionate to your level of commitment and professionalism in this avenue of your business as with any avenue of your business.

If you’re like most of us, you’re not on a budget that allows you to spend massive amounts of money on advertising for your Internet marketing campaign. With that in mind, let me show you a fairly simple two-step formula for profiting online with little or no investment.

How much does it cost you to write an informative Internet marketing article? The only cost is a little time, but essentially it’s free. The key is to write as many articles as possible, not just one or two.

After you’ve written a number of articles, go ahead and submit these to the top twenty article directories, as well as the top twenty ezine article directories. Be sure to follow their submission guidelines. I recommend you format your sentences at no more than 60 characters per line to meet the requirements of these different directories.

At the end of each of your articles you will include a resource box that entices your readers to click through to, not your website, but your free blog! Remember how I told you this method would be investment-free?

For a general idea of what a resource box looks like, take a look at mine at the end of this article. Offer readers a benefit for clicking through to your blog, and they most assuredly will.

You can create a blog in minutes by going to blogger.com. Then continue to do what you’ve been doing already; keep writing articles. Devote half of your time to writing articles for submission, and half of your time to creating quality content for your blog.

On the side of your blog, create links to the five to seven best products that offer affiliate programs that you are signed up for. Include them under a heading that

is most appropriate for your topic.

Include “sleeper links” to merchant sites that you can earn affiliate commission from. Don’t create blog entries that are nothing more than product pitches. Make your blog entries informative, and tie in subtle endorsements to products that help to meet their needs.

For example, read the sentence a couple of paragraphs above where I told you that you could “create a blog in minutes by going to blogger.com”. Simple, isn’t it? As a general rule, don’t include affiliate links in more than 30-40% of your blog entries. If you do, your visitor will feel like you’re trying to constantly sell them.

Besides, if your blog entries are information-rich and informative, they will keep reading and eventually run into one or more of your affiliate links anyway! Chances are that they will likely click on one of your affiliate links located on the side of your blog page as well.

While you will eventually want to get your own website, if you are on a shoestring budget, this is the best method that I am aware of for profiting without spending a dime, or selling your own product. By creating quality content on a regular basis, repeat visits are virtual guaranteed, and the more articles you submit, the higher your affiliate commission will be!

**Attn Ezine editors/Site owners** Feel free to reprint this article in its entirety in your ezine or on your site so long as you leave all links in place, do not modify the content and include our resource box as listed below. Feel free to substitute your referral link in place of ours in the resource box. Thanks!

Do you really want to make money online?

Do you want to develop a business which can make money for you 24 hours a day, 7 days a week almost automatically?

Of course you do!

Why else wouldn’t you be reading this ebook right now.

Many others have created full-time incomes while only working part-time online. It is within your grasp. Plus, many of them, including myself have started with little or no money!

The down side to this is, many of you will need a change of attitude before you will be able to reach your goals.

Even with the right information and the right foundation, many people have still failed in their online ventures just because they did not develop the right attitude. Your attitude is essential when achieving success and your dreams. Which brings me to an old statement “Your Attitude determines your Altitude,” pretty much says it all!

If your psychological mindset is poor, than your outlook in general will always be poor. The negativity will show in everything you do. No matter what you are doing, your results will be poor and your business will do poor.

Having a positive mentality about yourself and about your business is a part of having the right attitude, but that is not what I want to focus on in this section. I want to focus on your reasons and vision for your business.

If your vision for your business is to just make enough money for a little extra income or to just produce a full-time income for yourself. You are severely limiting yourself to the real possibilites. If this is you, you need a change of attitude. Don’t limit yourself! On the Internet, “The only limitation is your imagination”!

The most successful people in business are the ones who look for problems and develop solutions to cure their problems. They have a vision which is bigger than just to make a little money. They have a vision to solve problems for others.

You need to learn about powerful internet marketing strategies to expose your product to hungry visitors and learn how to write killer sales copy. Yes, that is what you need to know how, if you want to produce

sales. You need to ask yourself a few questions.

What is it that I’m selling?

Are you selling just another product?

Are you selling a solution to people’s problems?

Are you just in business to make a little money or do you honestly care about helping other people with their problems?

Now you are probably wondering where a good place to search for problems is. Well there are many places to do your research such as forums, discussion boards, newsgroups, and even eBay.

When you get to these places to do your research, here are just a handful of some of todays problems to give you an idea:

People are frustrated with the amount of traffic on their web site!

People are frustrated with the amount of time they spend with their family or friends!

People are frustrated with learning how to submit to the Search Engines!

People are frustrated with learning how to use certain software!

People are frustrated with not being able to produce affiliate sales!

People are frustrated with not being able to produce sales!

People are frustrated with weight loss!

People are frustrated with health problems!

Look for these types of problems and frustrations and develop or find products which have the answers. In other words, don’t just try to think of new ways to make money. Think of ways to solve more problems for more people! Once you’ve learned the marketing side of the equation, the money will start coming in.

The best part about it is that all you have to do is change your attitude and start being a problem solver. What problems are still out there in your specific market? What problems do people have when they order from your competition? What can you do to make your product or service a better answer to people’s needs?

When you ask yourself these types of questions you are often taking the first step to success. Once you have recognized the problem and developed the right attitude, you can start looking for or creating the solution. You have the question, it’s time to develop the answers.

Before you set out to explore the online shopping market you should do some planning, take a piece of paper and pen and write down the steps that will help to bring in traffic to your website.

And once they have visited you must have something to entice them to remain and do some shopping, in our website: www.shopshopshop.org We try to mix our affiliate, we have some highly recognizable name and some not so well known.

One frequent complain we get is the cost of shipping, people are willing to pay for convenience but they do not want to pay for shipping, so we use the free shipping banners when available.

And the great savings the affiliates are offering, this is a lure to catch their attention, after all when people are saving money and are provided with theconvenience of shopping from the comfort of their home they are happy.

Step (1). Mix your affiliates you want some well known names, but remember the well known retailer pay the lowest commissions and are the most demanding.

Don’t settle for the first affiliates that accepts you, you may start with a few, but if you build your site right some of the affiliates that turn you down will revisit your site and approve you.

Make sure to keep good records, and stay on top of the affiliate emails to be able to use the incentives they provide to induce people into buying the products your affiliates are offering.

Develop a program where shoppers will provide their email address so that you can inform them of future promotions and savings available to them.

(2). Links are a way to have search engines give your site a high ranking, reciprocal link exchange are a good way to get started , many businesses arein the same position you are in and are looking to link to somebody.

The more links you have leading to your site the better the search engine will rank you. You may choose to pay for links and here again make sure they are giving you good companies to link with.

If you a have a family oriented business you don’t want to be link to an adult site. You want sites that related your business or are complimentary.

A example would be if you have a site that sells only clothing you would like to link with a site that sells jewelry or footwear.

(3). Keywords: key words play a crucial

role in your internet business, people must be able to find you. Keywords are what people search for on search engines.

People who have never heard of your company are not going to look for youby name but they go on the search engine and type in keywords to be let to a site that matches the keywords provided.

If the keywords type in relate to the keywords on your site then you will getcustomer to come and visit your site, and hopefully buy something.

You will want to have as many combination of keywords as possible in order to drive web traffic to your site, Make sure you have the most popular search terms and use as many as possible.

Keywords is the key to traffic and traffic the key to sales, when your web page comes up near the top ten in response to a searches on searche engines , your traffic will increase and so will your sales.

(4). Contacts: everybody knows somebody so start using the those contacts to promote your business, but do so in a tactful manner so that people are not turn off by your aggressiveness.

Giving somebody a business card and asking them to checkout your website might be a very soft sell that might lead to conversation about your business and help you gain a potential customer.

Just think of all the people that you come in contact with on a daily basis, by themselves it will not be enough to make a fortune but added to the other marketing results it could make your business venture a profitable one.

(5). Incentives: Offer businesses incentives to continuously use your site for their purchases, businesses expend thousands of dollars every month on office products and other essential items for their businesses but get nothing in return, so offer them some kind of rebate or free items for purchasing through your site.

Offering a free gift for individual is also a good policy but make sure that it is contingent on purchases being made so that you don’t attract all the freeloaders.

Everybody shops the question is where? Your job is to make sure they do it on your site. Or preferably at www.shopshopshop.org

Linda Quinones has been active in promoting her own site while helping others to succeed in the Internet marketing field. Previously she was involved the financial sector for several years. Her website is:http://www.shopshopshop.org

The search landscape is changing so fast that half of what we knew a year ago about search engine optimization and marketing is now obsolete, reports Greg Jarboe in his SEO-PR Newsblog. Jarboe is a regular presenter at the Search Engine Strategies (SES) conference and web search versus vertical search (in search areas like news) was one of the new search trends featured at the San Jose SES.

The growth of the news search has only come about in the last few years. According to Nielsen/Net ratings, in June 2004 CNN.com was still the #1 online news source with Yahoo not too far behind. By January 2005 Yahoo rose to #1 with 23 million readers a month and by June 2005 they were pulling out in front with 29 million readers a month, dominating the online news ratings.

News search is playing a bigger and bigger role in online marketing. Google has a news search section, as does AOL, MSN and Alta Vista. Sites like Topix are drawing viewers looking for great local news. Recent studies show that 77 percent of Internet users get their news online and it’s the number one choice for news in the 18 – 54 year old age group. People go online and search the news engines by topic and keyword. The LA Times reported on the trend, saying that veteran

journalists are looking to the PR field for work, now that so many readers are reading their news online.

When there is a relevant and timely article in Google News, Google will serve you up that news item in the Google ‘One-Box’ above the #1 position when you do a web search on a keyword or phrase. Yahoo News now indexes blog posts in response to the clear trend that early adopters look to blogs for news. Getting your message out in the news search has emerged as an essential part of your search engine optimization and marketing strategy.

Optimizing press releases and news articles is no longer a ‘nice-to-do one day’ idea or ‘something we should try.’ It’s a proven strategy you should be implementing right now. Put these articles into an RSS feed and you’ll start to show up in the most unexpected places!

Sally Falkow has created effective internal and external communication strategies for both large and medium sized enterprises for 25 years. Since 1999 Ms. Falkow has translated her extensive experience in communication to the Internet and is now one of the leading web site and Internet marketing strategists in the U.S. Her web reviews and internet marketing strategies using RSS feeds, blogs and optimized press releases have kept our clients on the forefront of technology.

The Public has Embraced Local Search and Want to do More

Although Local Search only caught on in the last year, such queries already account for over 36% of all search engine queries. When a person adds a geographic term (like city, town, or zip code) to their search query, the results only show them the small pool of businesses located within that area – and not necessarily all of them.

Entering the search terms: “garden supply” + Denver only returns gardening stores in Denver – rather than the many thousands listed in the Google database. They’re even shown clustered on a map, to help the searcher easily spot the closest ones.

That’s significant since people prefer to shop on the basis of convenience. Research shows that over 50% of Yellow Page directory users scan for location first, before deciding which ads to read or consider. Local Search simplifies that preference further.

Too Many Small and Mid-sized Businesses are Missing the Boat

Their widespread mistake comes from assuming that the Internet is not crucial for their brick and mortar operations. The main reason for people going online is not to buy online. They find it more convenient (that word again) and faster than the traditional methods like Yellow Pages or newspaper ads.

A study by ComScore Networks in December, 2004 showed that most people who research products online purchase them from stores in their own community. That study found that 25% of those searching for electronics or computers made purchases. But 92% of those purchases occurred offline. Nearly 40% of searches resulted in sales as much as five to 12 weeks after the initial search.

Getting Listed in Key Data Bases Give You a Shot at Being Found

You need to make it easy for buyers to find you and choose you when they search online. There’s not a single place to “sign up” because there are numerous search engines, Internet Yellow Pages (IYP), and industry-related data bases. Check our whether your business appears on various prominent sites, http://www.localsearchresources.com/listed.html. You do not need to be a techie or have a website to show up in Local Search results.

But you have to get into the game. Many small businesses don’t show up most places. And that’s frustrating for searchers and unwise for them.

Provide Precisely the Information that People are Looking for

What do people who

buy what you provide look for? It’s up to you to supply the information they want – hours of operation, payment options, specialized services or credentials, brands carried, etc. What they need to know varies depending on your type of operation. Also, it doesn’t hurt to provide helpful buying tips and specifications, too.

Here’s how online searches are miles ahead of the Yellow Page directory. That’s printed just once a year and is out of date by the time it reaches the public. But the ad is small (even if it’s a large display ad) compared to what can be spelled out on a website.

So once you know your business is showing up in the searches, it’s time to beef up your website (or web presence on a portal) so that you stand out in the searches. Then you should start modifying your company policies and practices to make them mesh with your online activities.

You’ll Reach the Customers you Want the Most

Just to provide an additional incentive for you to wade into having an online presence, those who rely heavily on Internet searches are better educated, earn more, and make larger average purchases than those who rely on the Yellow Page directory. With a Yellow Page ad plus an online presence, you’ll be findable by most of the people who are at the point of making a purchase.

My future articles will show how to develop a Local-Search-friendly website or business policies. You’ll redefine how you provide customer service. Going to the trouble to better serve your Internet-savvy customers will give you an edge compared to your competition.

Your Need to Act is Urgent – Treat this as Front Burner

People prefer to spend their money close to home. But they won’t spend it with you if you don’t show up in the places where they’re looking. This trend is customer-driven. They like using Local Search, and just wish the information could be more complete. Even the search engines are scrambling to get ahead of this parade. And you need to do so as well.

Pop up windows come in many different shapes and sizes, typically in a scaled-down browser window with only the Close, Minimize and Maximize commands.

There are two major types of pop up windows.

Entrance pops – these appear when a visitor arrives at your site.

Exit Pops – these appear when a visitor leaves your site.

There is a huge controversy over the use of pop ups on the internet. While some people feel they are an unwanted marketing ploy, the statistics show that they are effective at generating interest. And in a recent report, 72% of internet users surveyed said they accepted limited

use of pop ups.

Pop ups are best used to generate sign ups for a mailing or newsletter list. You can also use them as a way to promote a mini course you offer that will teach your prospects more about your product or service.

Either positively or negatively, the fact remains that pop ups are effective at gaining a person’s attention.

To get the true picture of how well your pop up is doing, make sure you pay close attention to conversion rates and return on your investment. Also, experiment with entrance vs. exit pop’s to see which is most effective on your site.

After recent changes in search engines ranking mechanisms, relevant link building has become one of the most important ways of Search Engine Optimization. Now it is almost as important as having a web site loaded with good content.

Why do you need link building?

It’s simple: the more relevant links to your website the more important your site appears to search engines and that should lead to better your page ranking. Search engine spiders are restlessly traveling through the Internet, constantly evaluating existing web pages – the keywords they use and the number of relevant links to your website. Because now relevant links are deemed more important than keyword density, some one way and relevant link building strategy is necessary if you hope to get to the top 10 or at least top 100 of web pages in your category.

While you have to create your own link building strategy that will fit into your situation, there are a few general tips. If you follow them, you will avoid many common link building mistakes and you can hope for greatly improving your website ratings in just a few weeks.

1. Use short URLs

When you submit your link to other sites that have a theme relevant to yours, make sure that offer a short URL. You can speed up the link building process by almost 50% if only you would use shorter URLs. Most webmasters will agree on adding a axbxcxex.com link, but won’t accept a link that will look like axbxcxexg.com/articles/general/index.php/id=brnd. Even if your link building strategy relies on submitting deep links, they need to be as short as possible.

2. Be careful with redirect links

No site owner likes redirects. If you want to make your link building easy and fast, you should avoid them every time it is possible. They are

often used to avoid long URLs, but it’s often a deadly mistake. Instead of redirects, you may consider simplifying your website map and making the URLs shorter. While it may be easier for your web site builder to have long addresses, every sophisticated link building strategy calls for making them as short as possible.

3. Keep the same URL over time

Don’t change your URL unless you have really good reason to do that. If you do change, you will have to do all that link building again from the beginning. Even if you redirect from your old web address to the new one, you have to consider the possibility that many webmasters delete redirect links from their websites. As a result, you can expect that you will lose about 25% links just because you’ve changed your website URL.

Just what are the searching engines looking for in the way of relevant links? No one knows for sure, but common sense tells us that links from a gardening site to a dirt bike site are not complementary.

Put yourself in the shoes of someone searching for gardening information on the internet. They come to your gardening site and feel they’ve found helpful information. Oh look, they think, there’s a link there by pansy graphic. I’ll just click that and get more good information. Yeow, what does a girl in a bikini sitting on a dirt bike have to do with gardening? … And there goes your credibility with your viewer and the search engines.

It appears that the value of links is swinging to a reasonable number if good quality links rather than a thundering heard of indiscriminant links from anywhere.

I’d like to show you five secret strategies to extract profits hidden in your Internet business. Pay particular attention because any of these can boost bottom line revenue fast.

Upsells

Upsells are additional sales made at the initial purchase. McDonald’s does it when they ask to super size your order. When you sell an ebook for $30, you can add an upsell to the order form. The upsell offers an expanded version of the ebook with an extra bonus for $10 dollars more. This increases your initial transaction size. Done properly, at least 20% to 50% of your customers will buy the higher priced item.

Lifetime Value of Customers

Lifetime Value refers to how much a customer is worth. Customers tend to buy more than once. Say you sell vitamins online. It costs you $50 to bring in every customer. But they buy from you for six months at $30 per month. Even if you lost $20 on the first sale you profit $160 per customer over six months. Knowing this, you can break even or lose a little money upfront to get a new customer and profit from the repeat sales.

Back End Sales

The big money is made from repeat sales to satisfied customers. Create more products and resell them. It always costs more to get a new customer. The hidden profits are in what you do with them once you’ve got them. Build your business around a

group of products you keep selling to your database.

Joint Ventures

Joint Ventures are project-specific partnerships. There are many ways to set these up but here’s one idea. Find other businesses that have comparable products to what you sell. Make sure they are not in direct competition with you. Ask them if they would like to sell their product to your list. You get a 50% cut of gross profits. Everybody wins.

Create Higher Priced Products

Believe it or not, a $20 ebook can be repackaged and sold for hundreds of dollars. Take the ebook and expand on it so it’s at least 150 to 200 pages. Record the ebook and make CD’s of the recording. Add a few bonus materials and now the perceived value is no longer $20. You can easily charge $300 to $1,000 for the same information properly package. Of course, it goes without saying, that what you sell must be valuable.

By taking these strategies and modifying them to your needs you will tap the hidden profits in your Internet business. The money is there waiting for you. Using the above five strategies you should double or even triple your gross profits in the next 6 to 12 months.

20 years ago, if you weren’t born rich the best way to get rich was to become (or marry) a doctor or lawyer. That’s where the money was.

Fast forward to 2005. In the last 20 years, there has been a 75% turnover rate on the Forbes list. Internet millionaires like Bill Gates, Michael Dell, Steve Ballmer, Sergey Brin, Larry Page, Jerry Yang, David Filo, Pierre Omidyar, and more, are knocking the traditionally wealthy off the charts.

The Internet has created more millionaires, and more wealth, than any other technological change in history.

So Why Are So Many Failing?

Despite the vast global opportunity the Internet offers, most people are still failing at their online efforts. Why?

Because here’s a mindset, online, that you can shortcut your way to success. You don’t need to know how to build a website. Or write copy. Or find traffic. That you don’t need to pay someone to do those things for you, either. Just buy a push button solution or the secrets to success or a drag and drop website builder, or promote an affiliate code and it’s a no brainer.

Why does that mindset exist? Because of the vast number of profiteers promoting the notion that they can show you how to leapfrog the learning curve.

Could you imagine a doctor having that mindset? Why spend 11 years becoming a doctor? Why not just get that push button surgery guide for $197 USD? It’s delivered by FedEx and comes with a full unconditional 90 day money back guarantee! And what about that handy prescription suggestion tool? Is that cool, or what? Man, you can knock 10 years off the learning curve.

Bizarre? Indeed.

It doesn’t work that way offline, and

it doesn’t work that way online, either, no matter what the profiteers tell you.

There are five things you need to know if you want to succeed online.

1) Who is your target market?

If you think your target market is, “Well golly gee, pretty much everyone,” then you don’t know your own target market.

2) What is your industry advantage?

Sometimed dubbed USP, your industry advantage is the reason people would buy from you instead of from someone else selling the same thing you sell. If you don’t know why people should buy from you, how on earth is anyone else supposed to?

3) How will you promote?

If you don’t know exactly how and where to reach your target market… you probably aren’t, and you probably won’t.

4) When will they buy?

Statistically, less than one in a thousand people will buy on their very first visit. If you don’t know what conversion rate is, or how to measure it, or how to improve it, you need to learn – if you’re ever going to earn.

5) Where will you present what you offer?

Whether it’s a blog or a website, you need a web presence that says you are serious and you are not a rank amateur. According to a Consumer Web Watch survery, the #1 criteria that consumers use to judge credibility is website design. On the Internet, you seldom get a second chance to make a good first impression.

One of the strange ironies of the Internet is that most of the profiteers promoting push button solutions have, themselves, followed the five steps above.

Maybe it’s time you did, too?
